·        Bangladesh has agreed to allow use of water of Feni river for irrigation and drinking purpose in Sabroom subdivision of South Tripura district.
·        India would shortly launch Cartosat-2B, a high-resolution remote sensing satellite, that would aid in infrastructure and urban planning.
·        India will provide a 55 per cent subsidy on solar power installations for homes and offices.
·        India has developed a new generation multi-sensor, multi-weapon defence system against enemy targets on board naval ships. The state-of-the-art "Gun Fire Control System" (GFCS) developed by Bharat Electronics Limited will be installed on board the P-28 class of ships. "The GFCS is a quick reaction, multi-sensor, multi-weapon, short/medium/long range defence system against air, surface or shore targets on board naval ships",.
·        ‘Phir Kabhi' the Hindi film directed by noted film-maker V K Prakash has been chosen as the best film in the 'Narrative Feature' section of the 2009 Los Angeles Reel Film Festival (LARFF).
·        Nepal is all set to have the first LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Trans-sexual) regional centre, with financial support from the government, near here to promote the rights of sexual minorities of the South Asian region.
·        India and Kuwait discussed a gamut of issues, including terrorism, developments in Pak and energy security by External Affairs Minister S M Krishna's maiden visit to a Gulf country.

·        A statue of US President Barack Obama as a boy will be removed from a park in the Indonesian capital due to public opposition.
·        An agreement for World Bank assisted Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP) was signed between Government of India and World Bank. The project will have a loan component of US$105.23 million from International Bank for Reconstruction and Development(IBRD) and a grant of US$20.33 million from Global Environment Facility(GEF). 
·        Indian-American Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri has been appointed as a member of US President Barack Obama's Committee on the Arts and Humanities, along with five others.
·        India successfully test-fired its indigenous Agni-III ballistic missile with a range of 3500 kms from the Wheeler Island off the coast of Orissa, making the nuclear-capable platform ready for induction into the armed forces.
·        On a day when the Andhra Pradesh High Court struck down job reservation for Muslims, the West Bengal govt has announced 10 pc quota in employment for the community under the OBC category.
·        Noted CPI leader Kamala Bhagwat died .
·        Eminent economist Kakkadan Nandanath Raj, who had made significant contribution in preparing India's first Five Year Plan, died.
