Precis Writing in Bank exams

The below are some of the rules/guidelines for precis writing:
1.      Read the given passage and understand it thoroughly.
2.      Underline all the essential ideas in the passage.
3.      Find out the central idea of the passage and use it as title of the passage. Title should not be a sentence in the passage.
4.      Write out a rough draft what you have underlined the essential ideas.
5.      Observe the following principles while writing précis writing:
·         Your précis must comprise only one paragraph. Though there are any numbers of paragraphs.
·         Your précis must be one-third of the given passage.
·         Your précis must be free from errors of grammars, spelling, usage, etc.
·         You must write your précis in your own English. i.e don’t repeat the same sentence from the passage in the summary.
·         The summary or précis of a passage has to be expressed in the fewest and clearest words possible. In a summary you should mention only important points and leave out all unnecessary details.
·         Do not add any new idea to summary.
·         Don’t use your own opinion/views about the passage.
·         The most important thing is your précis should be able to convey the ideas expressed in the original passage.

hi varun ther's a small query of reasoning ihope u will help me to knw da correct answer:
ques:
if white is black, black is red,red is blue, blue is yellow, yellow is grey ,then wat is da color of clear sky??
my logic: as da color of clear sky is blue and in da question above blue is yellow so answer must be "yellow".
but as per solution given in da book says "red" bcoz red is blue

according to u wat must be the right approch to solve these kind of questions......

hii....
Wht is d correct ques??? b'coz it depend d way ques is asked if in ques its written "called" eq if book is called watch, watch is called bag , bag is called dictionary & dictionary is called window which is used to carry books ans will be "dictionary" (As in ques called was used we move forward..
But if in ques instead of called "meaning of" or "means" is used we move backwards so in dat case d ans will be "watch"...
Hope u get what i m trying to say ...

Dear Varun,

This question may sound silly but I have followed most of your points on the precis writing except "It should be 1/3 of
the passage". I went onto write one full page (one side). This may be because i left spaces between the words per my habit. Will this affect securing min 25 mraks out 0f 50??.
