Weightage for GK section in Bank PO Examination - 2010

I am presenting the weightage for General Awareness Section in Bank PO Examinations. So that you can have an idea in which areas the questions are being asked. It will be helpful for you in which areas you have concentrate more. Topics covered in Gk sections are shown in the below:
·        Economy Questions – 5 or 6 bits.
·        Union Budget & Railway Budget 2009-10 – 3 or 4 bits.
·        Sports - 3 or 4 bits.
·        National & International Awards – 3 or 4 bits.
·        National & International Summits – 2 -3 bits.
·        Missiles/Satellites used by countries – 2 or 3 bits.
·        Banking terms & rates (like repo & bank rate, etc) – 2 or 3 bits.
·        New Presidents/PMs of a country – 2 or 3 bits.
·        Related to Finance – 2 or 3 bits.
·        Government Schemes – 2 bits.
·        Important positions held by people – 1 or 2 bit.
·        Aid by International/national Organizations to states/countries/etc – 1 or 2 bits.
·        Acronyms - 1 or 2 bits.
·        Authors & Books - 1 or 2 bits.
·        Deaths – 1 bit.
·        Questions related to Indian Defence – 1 bit.
·        Imp days – 1 bit.
·        Reports by International Organizations – 1 bit.
·        Persons in News – 1 bit.
·        Places in News – 1 bit.
·        International Organizations their members/non-members. – 1 bit.
Note: The number of bits mentioned above are approaximately (>90%) calculated by viewing previous General Awareness question Paper asked in Bank PO Exams. All sections mentioned above may be covered or may not be. But most of the questions are from these areas. Apart from these you must have the knowledge of Countries their Capitals, Currencies and their current Presidents/PM’s. For these you can visit this link. Varun im a Engg. student with MBA in marketing, i dont worry much about Apti, Reasoning, and GA as i need to do only 25 - 30 Questions in each section within time limit, can u plss give me some tips to clear 25 Questions of English Section in 30 minutes as i m week in that, that is my weak point. I m waiting for ur suggestion, i will be highly thankful if u try to sort me out from this section??? Regards Dib

To improve your English...Try to read English Newspapers, Novels Whenever you find time... and try to solve the previous papers...the number of practices gives the better chances to clear the section...

Same pattern for every exam...Try previous papers of any bank...For Previous papers you can buy the book..."Executive Makers".This book is famous for Previous papers.

i am just started with the preparations for bank p.o. can you please guide me for the quantitative aptitude section as i am weak in maths.please tell me the no. of questions to be attempted in each section to get selected.

Hi Sugandha..
For quant there are no. of books , practice daily with different models each day.For getting selected in banks as PO will take some time..so be patience.
For 50Q in all sections you have to attempt around minimum of 30Q with 100% accuracy.

hi varun i just cleared sbi clerk exam but i m preparing for bank po. i m in final year.would it b wise to join as a clerk n continue with prep for po.what is d salary in hand received by aclerk n other benefits.being in final year am i eligible to appear for bank po as my prep r upto mark n i just wanted to appear for d po exam.plz varun help me out

By the time you are selected as clerk/PO you must complete your graduation it is mandatory.
I think you are right first join as a clerk in SBI and try for PO if you are selected in SBI as a clerk.
